Visitors can expect fascinating encounters with elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard. The sea around South Africa is also home to the largest sea mammal, the whale, which can be viewed close up between the months of June and September.

When I arrived in Florence a few weeks ago, I knew two or three words of Italian: pasta, buon giorno, pizza, and that was it.

However, I quickly absorbed more and more of the language and after two weeks I felt quite confident. My host family has been a great help, who challenged and supported me.
