Main attractions
Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand, is situated in the North Island. It enjoys a warm coast climate, and with 3 harbours and 50 surrounding islands, offers visitors fantastic opportunities to enjoy clean sandy beaches and a great range of water sports.
The city is cosmopolitan and cultural. Historic inner city suburbs with boutique shops, large suburban malls, a vibrant commercial business district, and famous weekend markets provide many places to visit and plenty of things to do.
With more than 80 vineyards in the Auckland region complementing a range of dining experiences, visitors can enjoy seafood, Asian, European and Pacific cuisine.
New Zealand is known for its ‘Great Outdoors’ and you can enjoy summer concerts in the extinct volcano of Auckland Domain, water sports on the Hauraki Gulf, hiking in the rainforests of the surrounding ranges, as well as boating trips to see dolphins and whales.
