Accommodation

In Perth, students can choose between staying with host families, in halls of residence or in a hotel.

Host families: There are many types of host families - from families with children to single-person households (in most cases older landladies). All host families are carefully selected and regularly inspected. When placing students, also special dietary, health or religious requirements are taken into consideration.
Travel time to school is normally 30 - 45 minutes. Dinner is usually taken around 6.30 p.m. and offers the best opportunity to converse with members of the host family.
The stay with a host family includes:
breakfast and dinner, a private bedroom and use of the facilities of the house.

Halls of residence: The centrally located halls of residence is a 15 minute walk from the school. This form of accommodation is cheap. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly. Bathrooms are communal. Male and female students are allocated to separate floors.
Other facilities include: bbq and courtyard area, communal ktichen, games room, television lounge with cable, pool table and on site launudry.

• Townsend Lodge, 240 Adelaide Terrace

Hotels: The city of Perth offers many standards of hotel accommodation, from comfortable but basic two-star to luxurious five-star hotels.

Apartments: If you will be staying for a longer period in Perth, you may decide to rent an apartment. Rents vary according to size, condition and location of the apartment.
The following approximate rental charges apply:

Unfurnished
1 bedroom from AUD 110.00 per week
2 bedroom from AUD 150.00 per week
3 bedroom from AUD 120-200 per week

Furnished
1 bedroom from AUD 150.00 per week
2 bedroom from AUD 170.00 per week

Also, a deposit of generally four weeks rent, is payable in advance, which is refundable at the end of the tenancy, provided the property has not been damaged. There may also be other fees involved, like approximately AUD 50.00 for the gas connection, AUD 50.00 for the reconnection of an existing telephone line, or approximately AUD 220.00 for the installation of a new line – plus a deposit of AUD 500.00 for international access (IDD). The latter can be waived against presentation of credit card details.
