Main attractions
Sydney Harbour is the most beautiful natural harbour in the world, and you can walk around much of the harbour edge and picnic in many spots. The waterfront areas offer a wide choice of restaurants, galleries and shops in the Rocks itself and on the adjacent Circular Quay, including the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), a vibrant centre for the promotion of contemporary art and visual culture. Darling Harbour, with attractive harbourside promenade and parkland areas, is also home to a selection of restaurants, fantastic shopping and world-class entertainment. The Cockle Bay development, on the east side of Darling Harbour, incorporates marina facilities and a host of international restaurants. Then there is Chinatown, a great place for Asian cuisines and specialty shopping.
Attractions include the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, with a tour to the top for stunning views; the Opera House, a modern architectural marvel; Centrepoint Tower, Sydney's tallest building and most prominent landmark with unparalleled views; Sydney Observatory, a museum about astronomy and its history, perched high on Observatory Hill in the Rocks. Explore the heavens, use a telescope, see a star explode!
Finally, Sydney Aquarium is one of the largest and most spectacular aquariums in the world. The variety will astound you - from the cold Southern Oceans to the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. Nowhere else in the world will you find a larger collection of Australian aquatic life - over 650 species.
